-The Lead: Coast Guard won seven of the nine matches en route to a 7-2 victory over the Clark University men's tennis team in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Tom Hackett (Corpus Christi, Texas) was a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 winner at #1 singles, John Hu (Plainsboro, N.J.) won 6-4, 6-3 at #2 singles, Mike Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 win at # singles, Kyle Fager (Spokane, Wash.) posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at #4 singles for the Bears.
-Hackett and Adam Bahney won 8-4 at #1 doubles, Fager and Chris Lansing (Manlius, N.Y.) posted an 8-6 win at #2 doubles while Melampy and Philips were a 8-3 winner at #3 doubles.
-Clark's Andrey Samodaev (Boca Raton, Fla.) earned a win at #5 singles over Jack Philips (Raleigh, N.C.) by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Alex Hattenbach (WIlton, Conn.) defeated Adam Bahney (Myerstown, Pa.) for the Cougars at #6 doubles, 6-2 and 6-2 to wrap up the day, but the Bears came away with the 7-2 final victory.
-Clark hosts Babson College in NEWMAC action on Saturday, April 14th at 10:30 a.m.
-Coast Guard is back in action on Thursday when the Bears host Bryant at 4:00 p.m.
