Women's Soccer Opens The Season With 3-0 Win Over Framingham State

Worcester, Mass...The Clark University women's soccer team opened the season with a 3-0 win over the visiting Framingham State Rams. Sophomore Sara Conroy (Clifton Park, N.Y.) scored in the 13th minute to give the Cougars an early lead. First-year Taylor Barbieri (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Megan Marocco (Swampscott, Mass) combined for the assist to record their first assists of the season. Sophomore Bailey Glenn (Middleboro, Mass.) and Eliza Meltzer (Framingham, Mass.) wasted no time making an impact after entering the game. Glenn scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Meltzer in the 32nd minute.

The Cougars outshot the Rams 17-5 and had four corners. The Rams almost took an early 1-0 lead just under five minutes into the game on first-year Casey Good's (Dartmouth, Mass.) shot but it was blocked by Marocco in front of the goal. The Cougars added an insurance goal when Emily Sigillo (Sparta, N.J.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute off a pass from junior Alex Pariseau (Millbury, Mass.).

Clark's sophomore Alison Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) recorded one save to record the win and her first career shutout. Framingham's State junior Kirsten Hansen (Framingham, Mass.) made five saves in the loss.

The Rams are back in action on Wednesday, September 6 at home against WPI at 7:00 p.m. The Cougars will host Newbury College on Tuesday, September 5 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
