Worcester, Mass.—The Clark University Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to announce the inductees for the 15th Hall of Fame class. We are extraordinarily proud of this year's group of outstanding individuals: Bruce Bolcer '81 (men's basketball), Devon C. (Vachula) Elliott '00 (field hockey), E Garcia '12 (swimming and diving), David McNamara '04 (men's basketball and baseball). These four individuals will be officially inducted into the Clark University Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 16th, 2019.
Bolcer was a four-year member of the men's basketball program and graduated from Clark in the class of 1981. He finished with a career 1,354 points and was a major contributor to the men's basketball successes from 1978-1981. During his tenure the Cougars accumulated an 82-22 overall record and a 64-9 record against New England Division III opponents. From his sophomore year through his senior year the team was ranked #1 in New England. As a junior Bolcer was named a Regional Tournament MVP. Leading his team as a tri-captain, Bolcer contributed greatly to the 1980-81 Cougars who posted a perfect 20-0 record.
Elliott (Vachula) was a four-year member of the Clark University field hockey team. As a senior Elliott was a First Team All-America selection. Over her four years Elliott collected three NEWMAC All-Conference honors (1997-1999) and was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in 1996. She was named to the All-Region First Team as a junior and senior and to the All-Region Second Team as a sophomore. Elliott finished her career amongst Clark's leaders in assists with 25 and tacked on 34 career goals for a total of 93 career points.
Garcia is a six-time All-American diver and won three New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver of the Year awards. They hold all the diving records at Clark and is a five-time NEWMAC Champion. For their outstanding performances over four years, Garcia was awarded the Clark University Alice Higgins Awards and M. Hazel Hughes Award as a senior in 2012. Garcia was also named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar-Athlete in 2012.
McNamara was a Clark University men's basketball and baseball standout. Over his four-year basketball career McNamara scored 1,827 points, placing him second on the Clark men's basketball all-time scoring list. As a junior, McNamara finished third in the country in three-point shooting percentage at 47.4% going 91-for-192 in 28 games played. He was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the year following his freshman season in 2000-01 and earned NEWMAC First-Team All-Conference recognition all four years. McNamara helped lead Clark to back-to-back Elite Eight NCAA Tournament appearances in 2001 and 2002. He finished his career as an Academic All-American with numerous regional honors.
In baseball, McNamara was a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection as a senior and graduated with the single-season RBI record at Clark (31). As a senior McNamara finished second in the NEWMAC in hitting (.387) and finished his career with over 100 hits. He served as a captain in both basketball and baseball during his senior year.
The 2019 Clark University Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 16th at 6:00 p.m. in Tilton Hall on the campus of Clark University.
