-The Lead: The Clark University field hockey team dropped to the Engineers of MIT on Saturday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. Before the game Clark recognized five seniors as they entered their last career home game for Senior Day – Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.), Raistlin Bittues (Center Ossipee, N.H.), Dani Michaud (Providence, R.I.), Gretchen Fowler (Acton, Mass.), and 2018 manager, Brittany Cloutier.

-Just over one minute into play the Engineers got on the board with a tally from sophomore Amanda Garofalo (Fairfield, N.J.). After a scuffle in front of the net junior Devon Goetz (Rockville, Md.) tipped the ball to Garofalo who snuck it behind Michaud for the 1-0 advantage.

-The visitors extended their lead to 2-0 when they capitalized on a penalty corner at the 28 minute mark. Goetz swept in her 13th goal of the season while sopohomore Jenna Haque (Bethesda, Md.) assisted on the tally.

-The Engineers extended their lead to 3-0 on another penalty corner with 15 minutes remaining in the first half when senior captain Bailey Tregoning (Frederick, Md.) deflected a pass from Garofalo up and over the defense. MIT took the 3-0 lead into the halftime break.

-Six minutes into the second half Barksdale collected the ball just over half-field, carried it up the right side, and dodged two MIT defenders before she took visiting goalkeeper, Grace Moore (Boston, Mass.) 1V1 and finished at the back of the net to put the Cougars on the board (3-1)

-At the 2:11 mark Clark almost put another goal in when Barksdale snuck a shot behind Moore but the ball was pushed off the goal line and MIT held onto the two point lead for the ultimate 3-1 victory.

-MIT outshot Clark 29-10 (22-8 shots on goal). The visitors also held an advantage in penalty corners, 9-2.

-Michaud made 17 saves in the setback and falls to 5-7 overall this season.

-Moore made seven saves in the victory for MIT and moves to 9-6 this season.
