WORCESTER, MA. – In their season and home opener, the Clark field hockey team moved to 1-0, picking up a 2-1 double overtime victory over the Simmons Sharks.
-After a scoreless first half, the Cougars got on the board first with Emma Boland (Redding, Conn) scoring her first goal of the season at the 40:13 mark. Late in the fourth, a Simmons goal tied the game with less than four minutes to play.
-The game remained tied at the end of regulation, and the Cougars and Sharks faced off in double overtime.
-Only thirty-four seconds into the second overtime period, the Cougars capitalized on a corner with a hard shot from Maire O'Donnell (Oak Park, Ill) being tipped past the goalie by Kerry Lefebvre (Freeport, Maine).
-Coach Kelley picks up her first win as the head coach of the Cougars.

-Clark outshot the Sharks 26-15, including 2-0 in the second overtime period.
-Both of Clark's goals were assisted. The first goal was assisted by Carden Maloney and the second goal was assisted by Maria O'Donnell.

Next up the Cougars will host in town rival Worcester State at the Granger Athletic Complex.
