NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Clark University men's soccer team wonca 4-1 non-conference match versus Colby Sawyer College on Wednesday afternoon.
Less than a minute into the match, Clark was awarded a PK after Colby-Sawyer was called for a handball in the box. Senior Charlie Lane (Southborough, Mass.) stepped up and scored to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. In the 34th minute, Colby-Sawyer found a way to make it 1-1. First-year Dalton Debold was able to put one in the back of the net to tie the match. Just two minutes later, Clark sophomore Brian Brennan (Stoneham, Mass.) scored off of a great header. The team's second goal of the match was assisted by sophomore Alex Maiorano (Shrewsbury, Mass.). In the 40th minute, the Cougars increased their lead to 3-1 when Maiorano was set up by Brennan and sophomore Derek Jones (Westford, Mass.). The Cougars tacked on another goal in the second half when they recieved their second PK of the contest. Brian Brennan put the ball into the back of the net to help secure the 4-1 Clark victory.
Junior Marco White (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) played the first half in goal for the Cougars and allowed a goal with two saves. Caleb Rosenthl-Vincenti (Stony Brook, N.Y.) played the second half and did not face a shot on target thanks to stifling defense. Colby-Sawyer keeper Lucas Boetsch played 58 minutes and allowed three goals with seven saves. Senior Jarod Parkins allowed one goal and had one save in 32 minutes.
